Time and stuff

Time and stuff and thoughts and things. Busy lately, but isn't that always how it is? It's photos and study and kids appointments, business stuff, spiritual stuff, domestic stuff. I have some very exciting plans in the works, and have books piled up from the library all over the coffee table. Sienna's latest obsession is spies, so there are a bunch of books on that theme too :)

These shots are from a recent commercial shoot, which was a fun mix of crafts, kids, nature and product photography, featuring the DirtGirlWorld scrapbooks from Leaf Journals. Sienna and my friend's little girl Abby were the girl models for the session.

Maeve and Tickles

Well while I've been squirreling away with dentist, occupational therapy, doctor and speech therapy appointments, photographing stock, posting orders, burning discs, painting Sienna's new bed, making moussaka, babysitting a little munchkin and talking to my mum on the phone, a couple of new exciting things have come out online!

First, I write for Maeve occasionally and their Summer 2012 issue has just come out. If you have a good look, you'll find my article 'The busting dance' tucked in there somewhere :)

Tickle the Imagination is the other online magazine that has a new issue out this week, this time featuring my photography shoot of clothes by Little Tree Kids, Monet Paisley, Dinky Me and Polkadot Lane, as well as accessories by Sew Chirpy (Sew Chirpy and Polkadot Lane stocked at Curious Bazaar, of course!). Sienna appears throughout, she's a pretty easy model, and Cedar and Ash both appear somewhere in there ;)

The way that I work

Or maybe I should say, the work that I do... Actually, the way that I work at the moment - website administration, graphic design, editing, etc - is on the couch with my laptop on my rug-covered knee. That isn't normally the case, when I am using my graphics tablet I need more stable space, and I move to the desk when I need to be really productive and the kids are up... I work in the afternoon (Cedar is usually asleep) if I can, and after the kids are in bed. Today I finished adding photos of Outback Pride herbs (Tanami Fire, above) to the food service section of their website ...

Last week I designed this logo for my gorgeous sister Kelly, of Polkadot Lane, and our friend (also gorgeous!) Kate of Sew Chirpy, for a collaboration they are planning. Love this colour combo!

I managed to pick up a whole pile of canvases in a sale, and they are now piled up by the dvd cupboard in the foyer. I should find a better spot! I will, I promise. In the meantime, they remind me to schedule in "mixed media" time in the next couple of weeks... 

And here (below) are some final favourites from last month's family session in the Alfred Nicholas Gardens, I have another session there tomorrow morning. Autumn leaves and children, what fun!

Cedar's new clothes

Cedar has had a couple of lovely new things to wear and model this last week... here he is in his new hoodie made by my talented sister Kelly of Polkadot Lane! This very quick photo session took place across the road from my mum and dad's house, on the railway line we grew up near. Right near here is an oak tree I used to sit in and read.

These last two show Cedar in his lovely new eskimo jacket from Little Tree Kids, made by sweet Wendy... she took it in a little at my request, I love seeing things snug on my slim kids - so cute!

Dinosaurs and Snow

Yesterday I had the kids home, starting school holidays a day early (as the school was all about Easter on their last day, with a parade etc, and we don't celebrate Easter). Cedar had a paediatrician appointment, which is just the other side of the city (50 minutes). Then we headed into Melbourne and stopped at Bourke Street to meet Ben for lunch...



I had promised the kids that we'd visit the Museum, so that was our next destination. The favourite this visit was 'Wild' with all the animals of the world on display...

Here are Sienna and Ash collecting Autumn leaves as we walked through Carlton Gardens on the way back to the car....

When we got home, a package from Wendy was waiting on the doorstop, and with Cedar and Ash both asleep from the big day we'd had so far, Sienna and I decided to make a photo backdrop in the garden for an impromptu session, all Winter Wonderland-ish! This is Sienna's new Little Tree Kids 'Heidi' jacket, worn over one of the Little Tree Kids dresses she already had been wearing all day. Cedar's eskimo jacket was also in the package, will have to try it on him when the weather cools down tomorrow :)
